How to work with scrum and meeting technics

I have implemented some new meeting technics and a customised way to work with scrum that I will think improve my groups overall productiveness. First, to help us get a clear picture we have been discussing and setting up clear goals each week and those goals are to be implemented and tested in the game, only the can they be put on the sprint plan. We don’t always finish and implement the artefacts but then we have them on standby. By not staring blindly on the backlog we discuss what we want in the game and write in new stuff in the sprint plan and the change the backlog. Working more after a Kanban way I find it easier to see how the project is flowing. We have also implemented a way to improve our design meetings by setting up what we are to design and saying that a couple of days before so everyone can come up with ideas. We can now discuss different ideas instead of trying to poke holes in each other.

Having a lot of meetings being too long and to draining for the members I had to change something. Having not prepared for the design meetings we ended up in a negative spiral where you kept defending or attacking the others ideas instead of bringing your own and discuss which one is better.

Looking at the backlog and the way the scrum layout it can easily be overwhelming and timewasting to constantly change and discussing what should be in the backlog. Since we have a small group and mostly work in group we find the scrum board to detailed instead we try to set up work packages and have the whole package done by the end of the sprint.

Setting agendas and time limits on each item during meetings:

To not get side-tracked during meetings we start every meeting by setting an agenda. Everyone bring up what they think need to be discussed then we set a priority list of those items. In this manor, we need to be effective if we are to discuss all items on the list. By doing this we have had an improvement in the quality of the meeting. And keeping the meetings shorter the productivity stays up.

Things works very well in our group this is just a way for me to experiment on how to boost productivity and efficiency in a project. every managers dream!
