Blog post 3/2/2017 Main Menu
|
This wasn’t necessarily a productive week for me. I have still been working on the finishing assets for our game, whose deadline we are rapidly approaching. I find myself rushing to finish what is left in order to be ready for any last minute needs, i.e. if we forgot something.
I started my week off by working on the Main Menu. This task wasn’t very hard to finish, but the planning for how i wanted it to look and looking for inspiration to base it off of took time. Easily more time then it took to actually put it all together After looking at Main Menus in games and talking to my designer about inspirations. Then all of a sudden it hit me. Like a brick you threw at your friends head cause he had a shiny rock you wanted. (Yes that did happen, and yes we are still friends…..kinda) Anyways, I took my design from the something I added to the presentation title cover I made for the game two weeks ago. The tablet the spy is holding on the cover art i made for the game is where I drew my inspiration from. Haha get it, draw? I made the Main Menu a tablet of sorts. Simply adding a few buttons and a screen to make it look like the background for the hacking gameplay.
For the setting, I simply kept the same design as the Main Menu. Removed a button and replaced it with a tick box to toggle fullscreen. On the screen I placed bars for Master Volume and Music Volume Control. It was a simple way of recycling old stuff and simply adding new to it. To round off my blog, I wanted to bring up a subject that has been annoying our group from the beginning. The split screen. It has been a pain for our group since the beginning, it has given us nothing but trouble and now i am incredibly happy to be rid of it. Ofcourse that means i have to remake our background, but that is easy compared to the amount of pain it has brought us. |
