Big Game Project – Week 1
|
Week 15 we started our Big Game Project. The group met up Tuesday the 8’Th for the first time and discussed how we wanted to approach working on the project and how we wanted to divide the work tasks between the members. On the following Wednesday we started working on the necessary preparation work for the project, such as the game design document and the project plan. We play tested the game a lot during the first few days of the project and we decided that there were a number of things that could be improved upon in order to make our game fit our aesthetics better (battling your opponent and gaining information). In order to make the most of the time that we had and in order to keep some of the original feeling to the game, we used the main components of the first version of game to create something that would play smoother, and generally be more interesting to play. The game that we have at the end of the week is a deck building card game, where the main goal for the player is to collect and use Action and Resource cards, in order to gain (and prevent their opponent from gaining) information cards. Due to all the changes that the game was going through at this point it was difficult to create much art for the game at this stage, spare for a few early mockups. I and my fellow artist Gabriel created a style guide for the game at this point. We also experimented with how we wanted the frames of the cards to lock as well as did a lot of research on the Neo Noir theme that the game will have. |
