Comment Week #4

Comment on „Animations, Sprites and my consequent thoughts thereon“, a blog entry published by Felix Rahm:

Heya Felix,
First of all, I really enjoyed reading your blog entry. You write in a fresh, vivid way that I personally find very pleasant to read. The writing style definitely fits the blog post and also you as a person. Content-wise, I have had an easy time to follow along your thought process. I appreciate that you structured your post into different components like an introduction part and a conclusion. Furthermore, I like that you present not only the recent animations that you have done, but also reflect on your first steps.

That being said, you reflecting about your work has probably been one of my highlights in this entry. I admire that you strive to always push the boundaries and that you are not satisfied with your already good-looking results, but rather constantly focus on improving. I would have probably loved to see the assets in-game though, since they create a different type of atmosphere and also give the reader a clearer image on how your work actually looks in the final product. I would argue that the explosion animations looks very linear timing-wise, in contrast to a more natural shockwave burst, but if I am nitpicking about that, that means that your blog post is solid;)

It is refreshing to see that you challenge yourself yet very unfortunate that your second artist left.
Nonetheless, I hope that you still have enough energy and time left to shape this project out the way you have imagined it to be. Best of luck for the rest of the project and keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Alexander Sinn
