Hi. I am not very interested in learning project management methods, but I do realise that it is important to know at least one that works if you are trying to finish a bigger project. I get a feeling that you feel about the same about scrum as me; you are mostly interested in the practicality of it. I agree that learning scrum is best by using it and working with it, and you really see the pros and cons of it.

I thought (but I could be wrong) that the daily stand up meeting is supposed to be around 5 minutes. (But usually it takes a bit longer for our group as well). Then I have to point out that the picture in your blog is too small to see and read the text. It is a relevant picture that is explained by your text but it is very hard to see and there is no source where it is from (I guess you haven’t made it yourself?).

What I wish to see more in your blog is more of YOU and what YOU think. How did scrum affect YOUR work, and what do you think about scrum? Otherwise your blog is written well and it is easily understood. Keep up the good work.

Health bars are a good way of communicating the health of the player. As long as you avoid numbers it is good, I think. Of course it would be nice to have some very innovative and cool design, but most players are familiar with the bar and for a 2D shoot ‘em up I think it works fine.
If I were you I wouldn’t put too much time into making the health bar or the UI. There are so many other aspects that I believe would really change the player experience to the better if they are well done so I would spend more time on those things. Such as the animations and the physics. Making it feel satisfying to play. As well as making the AI for the NPCs move in a somewhat logical way. I am no programmer but I would imagine it is very difficult to program and take a lot of time.
Your blog looks great, Natasha! It is written in an easy way, showing each step so that the reader can learn and follow the steps that you’ve taken. However there are some terms that you haven’t explained, such as “slider”. It is probably basic knowledge for a programmer, but for me as a graphics person I can just imagine what it is (something that slides back and forth?) but that might be good to specify in your next blog. Looking forward to seeing your next blog and to play the game when it is finished. Keep up the good work. 😊
