Week 1: The Basic Meshes

Hello!

I am a bit behind on the writing for each week, so I will have to go back a bit for this one.

We are now on the fifth week of development of the game, and this post will be about the first week. I will make sure to make some updates this week regarding the other weeks.

As I stated in my previous entry, I am the environment designer, and the only one working on the environment models of our game. The first week I made the basic models that were needed to fill out the world. These mushrooms are not special in any way and are just used as basic platforms, so they had to have rather simple designs. The special mushrooms which I had not started on yet were not supposed to blend in with the basic shrooms.

These are the first few basic shroom hats.

These are the stalks.

I am using 3DS Max Studio when making these models, and that is also where I took these images. That is why the colors seem rather washed out, so it is not a proper visual representation of what they look like in-game.

These models are made separate this way, so that the designer and producer who are the level builders of our game can use them to make several types of mushrooms. One of the stalks was actually a bit newer, but in total this makes 49 different types of possible mushrooms, allowing for at least a little bit of diversity.

Once I have a functioning Unity file I will  be able to post some better images of what they look like in-game, with the proper lighting.

That is all for this post.
