Things not appearing in this game

A bunch of graphic was made for Mole Munch, that for one reason or another will not make it into the finale game. Some of this un necessary work was because of us jumping in to the project without enough planning, but most of it stems from unexpected turns of events.

Among things not appearing are the tiles. At first we had intended to have the grass above ground and dirt below ground be composed of tiles, but a few weeks into the project for programmer reasons I have since forgotten this was changed in favor of one large image for each state of the game.

These two are both four tiles together in a square.

Initially I had a bit of difficulty drawing them to not look like floor tiles, but after a few google searches I found out that I should make them in just three colours and also made them able to connect to each other in every direction without needing to have a border around them.

I did a few artefacts like the tipped over gardener bucket as above ground filler before realising it would look too illogical when the mole can just walk straight over it.

They could possibly be included if placed outside of the borders of the map where a player can not move.

Some bugs did not make it for a few reasons. I thought they were too pointy, making them look not tasty enough, and they also needed too much detail that it would not work to shrink them to the set 32×32 pixels required in the game.

Clouds will probably not make it into the game simply because of time constraints near the end of the project, them having a low priority because of not serving any technical purpose.

Additionally a few vegetables were cut. The carrots and chili because a few weeks into this project we decided everything including vegetables had to be viewed straight from above, and it would not be possible to distinguish them that way. A carrot top viewed from above could be any of a plethora of vegetables when it needs to be so small. The zucchini got cut for being too similar to the more important prized melon.

The zucchini was later reborn as an eggplant when we needed more vegetables that did not need to have any animation, since animated zucchini would not be satisfying without more than 32×32 pixels.
