I´m writing this post on the day before the beta. There has been a lot to do these last few weeks. I´ve mainly been working on the introductory screen and the failure screen. The intro screen will show the player the basic back story and objective of the game. We wanted to show this using only pictures. I achieved this by adding a few speech bubbles to the background image. I wanted to depict the relationship between the main character, the fox burglar and the mob boss. I made the fox appear much smaller in perspective to show the difference in status och power. The mob boss is a powerful dragon seated at a luxurious desk, with bags of money surrounding him. The fox is surrounded by warm red or orange colors, while the dragon is blue and surrounded by cooler colors. I wanted the antagonist to have a warm comfortable feel while the boss would feel cold and unemotional. The top part of the picture is generally blue and cold while the bottom is warmer. To describe the plot and objective of the game I made a few simple speech bubbles containing very simple characters. Our original plot was that the player owed the mob boss money, and was forced to break in and steal items to make up for it. Although you probably wont make this out by just watching the into, you will understand that the fox needs or wants money, and that there is a safe within a mansion containing money. Breaking into the safe will make you rich. Although I dont tell the story in detail, I make it simple for children to follow along as they wont have to read a lot of text to get it. The end screen is basically a mug shot of the main character. I made it black and white and added the height measurement in the background to give it an authentic feel. This screen will show up if the player get caught. After being shot by Ottos electric stun gun, the player is caught and sent to prison. To make it clear the game is over, I added a clear red text “busted”. Thats it for this week. The project is running to an end, and the game is about to be finished, although it feels like there is a lot left to do. Next week means the last blog post for this course. Time flies and I´m sure going to miss writing on this blog. |
