Blog Post 3. Scrum.

Working with Scrum has been interesting. There have definitely been some benefits. Having meetings at the start and end of each week has been helped provide some insight into every members work, which has often led us to change the prioritization of certain assets. For instance we new the first presentation was coming up and since it was clear that animations where far from finished we decided to focus on creating new parallax layers and overall game play. The sprint plannings were useful, especially for us artists since it allowed other members to narrow down exactly what we had to work on. However the sprint time frame was so long that assets were not sent as quickly as possible for the programmers to implement, but instead individual assets where sometimes overworked until the sprint end. The sprint review meetings were especially good for reflecting on the development we had made throughout the week, it allowed us to reflect on the game as a group to make sure it was meeting out aesthetic goals. The biggest problem with Scrum has been the google document we used to plan our week. It was extremely inefficient because everything had to be entered in manually, such as who is responsible for what and how long do we expect it to take etc. Furthermore, each new week we had to create a new sprint sheet as such.
The scrum has also been somewhat of a hassle because so many people live far away from school. Since we all have a different schedule our group decided to have the daily stand ups over discord at 12, unless everyone was already in school. This has been beneficial because daily stand ups are important for member engagement in the project, however one drawback has been that some members miss the group call and are thereby left out of the loop, which is a huge drawback.

We had set as a rule that no one is to work over weekends, but personally that is when I feel I can be the most productive as I like to work more around evenings. In this way Scrum limited me slightly.
