I am working on my fellow classmate’s concept called Sound of Life for two months and I am going to post a couple of blogs where I explain about my part of the project and talk a little about possible stumbling blocks during the journey and how I manage to solve them. So lets start with the simple question: What is Sound of Life? Sound of Life is a first-person game where you play as a rescue worker and you are located in a city which has been bombed. Your job as the player is to find the missing people that are injured and stuck underneath the fallen buildings. Finding the people is not so easy. The player will be given some clues of the victims’ locations and also a tablet that allows the player to listen through all the wreckage and the debris. Sound of Life is all about exploring, finding clues and most importantly, listening very carefully the surroundings – even a small scratch can indicate someone’s location. My part of the project has mainly involved creating assets and props for the game. On this post, I am going to explain what I was working on during the first weeks. The terrifying fact is that the city has indeed been bombed, meaning that every prop that I have created has to be remodeled or retextured so they appear broken. And since it is a city it means that I have an endless workload to do in order to give the player a feeling that people have actually lived in this city and it is not some kind of abandoned village showing no sign of life. Cheers
