BGP – Day 31

A day of everything

I started this day with adding all the games animations that are when the character is standing still. Since all the movement animations where done, other than that I only have one animation left where the character pulls a lever. This includes animating the character with a prop. But before I got to work on that one and after I had added all the other animations I got feedback to fix one of the running animations since it wasn’t looping correctly which caused a a small shake to the players camera view when running.

This was easily fixed and imported into the project, after that I was going to fix the lever but It had to be given to one of our other artist to have it textured, as this needed to be done before it was animated. So while I waited for that to be done I started cleaning up some of my materials in the project by changing some of the nodes into functions which cleaned up the material a little bit. This needed to be done since I’m going to watch a tutorial where I will change the games tessellation to be based on distance. After this I also managed to help one of our programmers to change a material so that we could have one of our objects glow, similar to the characters arm. When this was done I almost finished the animation for the lever but I had to stop since I was asked to change again and start working on adding other materials.

What I did is that I cleaned up and created a master material in the game, so that the other artist could use an instance of it and add their own textures. This was supposed to have been used from the start but haven’t been. I finished of the day by sending two screenshots of some of my work to my colleague as it is supposed to be used for our application to the Gotland Game Conference.
