What the puppet boy been up to

I am of the understanding that the art-style that I am trying out on our characters in the game has generated a bit of a buzz among my pierce.

So in this post I will shed a bit of light on what I more specifically have been working with.

Come sit with me 😉

Our game is as mentioned a space noir story in 2D with text as a primary mekanic. And with that came a bit of challenges regarding the look of the game, or more precisely, how to make the style stand out.

A big influence within the look was old black and white movies. So it came naturaly that the way this needed to be done was practical. And that is what I’m doing.

Every character in the game will be built by hand, filmed on a green screen and then turned into spirited that can be used in the game.

They will be built mainly from cardboard, metal wiring, fabric and hot glue.

List of challenges I currently facing:

  • Quality: I no expert, only an enthusiast. So to give the characters the right quality for this project will be a hard challenge.
  • Look: Drawing a character is one thing. But building that character is something completely different. So the end result won’t reach the same look as the design characters but will hopefully get there own quirk to them.
  • Time: Making the puppets proved to be a more time consuming endeavour than expected. Hopefully the filming part will be quicker.

So yes! I’m making puppets for the game. And I will refer to them as puppets sence there have been a loot of asking about my “dolls”.

So to make things clear, I’m making puppets, not dolls, I’m doing puppeteering, not stop motion. They are live action with working mouths and hopefully working eyes.

See ya!

And yeah! We have a twitter now! Follow it for direct updates on what I do.
