BGP – Day 9

Bachelor Degree & Materials

Continuing our work on the game, we discussed today on what we are trying to learn but also what we need to do during the day. At the same time we had a ”information lecture” we had to attend to, concerning those who is studying to get a bachelor degree. Where we got to know which courses we can and cannot choose, it is a bit confusing, but I think I got a good grasp of it. Still I booked a meeting to get a confirmation to what I might be able to study my last year, which starts this fall.

When it came to actual work I’m stuck with the fire for the moment since I can’t get it to trail in a good way. Therefor I decided to move on and get a fundamental understanding of materials, how they behave. My hope is to be able to get a better understanding of how to use the different systems in the engine, also I subscribed to site which have some older tutorials on particles that might help (There Is a lot of tutorials I have to watch).

What I learnt about during today’s tutorial was just the basics of what a physically based material is, here are a link for more in depth reading:

https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Engine/Rendering/Materials/PhysicallyBased/

And Also about what naming conventions you are supposed to follow when working on a project, which will help you optimize your workflow. This can be find here:

I’m sorry I don’t have anything more exciting to show you yet, hopefully the knowledge I gain here will help me move further into creating some cool effects and materials!

Have a great Friday!
