Preparing for the Beta
|
Hello reader and welcome to my fourth blog post! This week everything is about the beta. Since everything that you want in the game has to be in the game by monday, the programmers and artists are hard at work trying to get everything done for monday and I am trying my best to help them in any way I can, but since I cannot program or draw at all, my help in that sense is very limited. I myself am trying to focus on the beta presentation and trying to think of the best way to show what we have done since the alpha. Our game has changed quite a lot since then, which is good obviously. Hopefully it has not just changed, but also improved. We have tried our best to listen to the feedback we have gotten from both our playtesting sessions and implemented some changes to the game that hopefully will remove some of the problems that people have mentioned. This week we have also looked at the level design of the game, something that we have changed a bit. Before we have been thinking that the level should be straight, but then we figured it would be more fun if there was some bends to it, so that is what we have done now. Unfortunatly the levels have not been completed when we have had playtesting so the level that people have had the opportunity to test have been pretty short. This has now been fixed and we have glued together a lot of the level art to make it longer and more challenging. I have of course been working on the beta presentation this week as well. Luckily basic outline of the presentations are the same so it will not be a big challenge to complete it, but you still want to make sure it is as good as possible so that people get a good understanding of the game you have made. It is also a good time to reflect on what has been working the way it should and what has not. See you next week! Oskar Nolstedt
