Story scenes

For this week, I have kept on creating scenes for ”Betulla’’ (me and my group will come up with a better name for the game shortly, no worries).  The scenes are supposed to be in the beginning of the game as an introduction together with text and a panoramic animation as a narrative to further spice up the gameplay. What we have thought out to happen in those scenes is shown below on a few sketches made by our game designer:

My job this week is to create those scenes, both by making new art that will fit in   the rest of the game and also by using art that has already  been implemented in the game to save time and keep a consistent art style. I began with creating scene 1 by using art that I had previously made for the game, warping it, removing and adding colors and shadows to make it look more natural, such as the background. I had to recreate Betulla, our main character, since she is in a top down perspective in the game and we needed her in a front perspective. I also made a crystal throne that is supposed to be in the scenery using a previously made crystal asset. This is the result, scene 1:

I will keep making the rest of the scenes in the same manner, by reusing and adding what is needed to keep the art consistent. I have now also created Betulla in a side/back pose to use for the rest of the scenes (shown to the left) using this method:

Overall, I am content with my work progress for this week so far. I feel like I have been able to complete much artwork at high pace. Except for creating the scenes I have also finished a loopable version of the background that gives the game a better flow, and also created a visual for the main character power-up.

Once one of the other graphic artists have put together the outside scenery with the trees I will be able to put every scene together.

Stay tuned for the finished scenes!
