Plans for the Beta

Preliminary Assets and Artifacts for the boss fight

Sup,

Now that the presentation of the Alpha was out of the way it was time to prepare for the Beta.
It is of utmost importance that we have all our features done by the end of next week because that is when the feature freeze occurs.

So when returning to working with the Beta we took a look at the Product Backlog which should show everything we want to include into our game. The problem is that some new mechanics and features we have talked about were not implemented into the backlog. This made the backlog give a vague picture of what our game would actually include. So it was important that these ”new” features and ideas were also implemented into the backlog. In order for someone outside of the project to be able to follow what we have done and how we have worked it is important to not leave anything out.

We agreed in our group that we had accomplished a lot these first weeks of working. Meaning we could potentially over scope a bit. Which is what we did, the ideas made for the boss fight is pretty intense and if successful would be really cool (if also balanced well). This is in a way a risk but I agreed with keeping the ideas around. We came to the conclusion that having them around and aiming for the best we could think of would be the best way to work with it. If we later in the process realizes these features aren’t realistic in regards of time, we would simply the mechanics of the boss into a regular ”shoot em up boss fight”. We also got a tip from our scrum master that a ”boss fight” in a game doesn’t necessarily have to be this big scary unbeatable creature. It can be a swarm of previously introduced enemies. Something that pushes you to use all your different abilities and attributes to overcome the final fight.

With this a basis we feel confident in our group about working towards the Beta. I hope that our game holds the same standard as it did during the Alpha presentations!

Leiman out.
