Weekly assignment #5 – Finishing up the animations!

Good day people!

So I am finally done with my animations. Or as finished as I can be. This week I have finished the walk animation, flood animation, pumping water animations and kicking animation. It has been a hard week with lots of work, but I have finally caught up, one day before our BETA deadline and presentation! I am not 100 % happy with my flooding and pumping water animation, and I will have to take the feedback I get from the teachers and improve it for the final deadline, which is two weeks from tomorrow (which is our beta deadline). From our alpha presentation we have improved alot, we have implemented all graphics and alot of mechanics. I and the rest of the graphics has finished everything to the BETA, and what is left is sound implementation, animation implementation and projectil implementation, which is the coders job. So here are my animations!

So here is the kicking animation. This when the gardener collides with the mole, which generates a kick from the gardener that knocks back the mole. Three successful hits will result in the moles death.

Here is the walking animation. This is being used everytime the gardener moves across the map.

Here is the preparation of the flood animation. Here he lifts his elbow, sinks the wwater gun into the ground and start pumping water through the hose.

Here is the one I think can be improved, but due to the lack of time has to wait to after the beta. Now the character starts pumping water into the holes, and due to the high pressure from the water gun, has a shake in his or hers entire body. The shakes doesn’t feel natural because the entire body moves as one, but this is something I had to due since I decided to merge all the layers, which I now consider as a mistake.

What could I have done better?

I could have saved a copy of the document before I merged all layers, so I could go back if I wasn’t happy with how it turned out.

I am kind of relieved that everything is done, since I wasn’t moving forward 1 week ago due to all the changes to the gardener. After the BETA I am going to polish the character, fix the hat and see if any animations need improvement. Lets hope they work.

What do you think? I welcome all feedback greatly with appreciation!

Until next time,

take care!
