Game Development Process Week 6
|
Hello again! This week I have been working on some assets for the level of the game. This are things that is to be placed in the different room of our spaceship to make it feel more like an actual spaceship and that someone has lived there. The first thing I started the week with was to animate the powercore of the engine that another person in my group made. He made the Engine and the core and then I made it look more like the engine was in use and the powercore was pulsating. This is what the engine looked like when I got it from my team member. The engine will be one of the goals that the player fights to get to in the game because the astronaut has to get the power back in the ship for the astronaut to be able to save himself and the ship. And here is the result that makes it looks a bit more like it is in use. When I created this my first action was to get the blue power core to pulsate. I made that useing Photoshops basic animation tools and created a separate layer of the engine for each frame. Then I made the first frame a bit smaller than the original. Next frame I left as it was and the third frame I made bigger. Then in the last frame I reused the middle frame so that the animation looks like the power core is getting smaller again before getting to its smallest state. This makes the animation look relatively smooth. Finally I also gave the surface a bit more texture so that it looks like it has been used for a while and is not in a clinically clean environment. The second thing I have been working on this week is a dead astronauts corpse that is supposed to be floating around in the space ship. This is not a big part of the game as the engine is but rather a sign to the player that something bad has come aboard the ship and that the player should be ready to shoot something that is not supposed to be on the ship. The thought is that this should look like a dead body floating in space and make the player more aware that things might be dangerous further ahead. That was all I had for this week. See you next week! Tagged: animation, corpse, engine, game development, space ship |
