Clueless fancy pants. The paper prototype

Paper prototype.
Methodology.
Quite many changes has been done since the last time.
As for the setup, we changed that the avatar is not the victim, instead one plays as the thief, breaking in to the mansion. We decided that this would facilitate the setup/story/mechanics, because now we could add items on the map that where more logical according to the setup, we could make the AI have real motives trying to kill the player.
In the beginning of the project when the player […]

Concept document: Developement diary

Development Diary!
October 13th
Our jetpack orangutan project is in progress!
We have agreed to create the concept for our game about an orangutan with a jetpack.
October 14th
I worked from home today. I searched for a fitting audiovisual representation of what I believe the game could be.
Idea for main character name; Monsieur Singe, being French for ‘Sir Ape’.
Idea for a Power-up; top hat of temporary invincibility, acts as a shield.
Idea for a Power-up; monocle of true sight, slow motion enemies and enemy projectiles.

Super […]

10 week project – first notes

Our assignment was to create a game concept from two words that we were given. Our group, number 15, was given fancypants and clueless. The game needed to be in 2D, with no gravity and it had to contain at least one projectile and three power-ups.
Among the roles, I was chosen to be lead art.
We wanted the game to be focused on exploring, puzzle, challenge and panic. We also needed to include clueless and fancypants somehow. To solve that, we […]

Completing the scrolling shooter in GM

The scrolling shooter game whose creation steps I described in one of the previous posts was the first really playable version – i.e., you had a challenge (approaching enemy planes) and an action to overcome the challenge (shoot/avoid the enemy planes).
However, that version was pretty bland. There was only one kind of enemy planes and hitting any one of them meant losing the game. Boring.
In this post I present the next version of the game, here. I’m not going through the […]

Fancy Mansion

As I’m not quite that good, I don’t have any photos, but today my group was to show our paper prototype of a game we’re designing according to the words of ”Fancy pants” and ”Clueless”… To our teacher.
With fog of war, a great storyteller/game master, and a lot of playtesting, our fany pants rich man with a gun got to chase after the burglar in his home, who kept hiding. Our teacher played very diffrently from our group, taking the route […]

Japanese guestlecture

Two days ago, me and my class got a guestlecture from three japanese sounddesigners and music composers. One of them presented his composed music and the programs that he use. One of these were Sonar X3, which we tested after his presentation. In their studio in the D-bulding, we students were divided in teams of two-four who shared the four available computers in the room.
The assignment was to compose Pyotr Tchaikovskys piano concerto no. 1 with Sonar X3. Me […]

Assignment 3 – Character game world

In my latest blog post I wrote about the background of the character I got to model and skin as the last assignment of our 3D graphics course. In this post I’ll be talking a about the character world for the Pilot character I chose for my pre-production package that is going to be modeled by Henrik Forsman (http://barthuc.wordpress.com). If you are interested in more information about my chosen character and in following the modeling process, I suggest you […]

This week we tried to do some face scanning using photos added into “123D Catch”. One has to take several pictures from different angles and add it into the software which in turn adds all the pictures into one 3D model that one can work on. This 3D model would later on be imported to the 3D coating program. In the 3D coating program we try to apply poly surfaces to complete a human face that can be put onto […]
