I challenge YOU

So after having been away from blogging a fortnight due to a combination of school projects and work I sat down to think.

What am I doing here?

Why am I not designing?

I should be designing.

Master Mayes told me I’m a designer now and that I should go forth and design.

I’m but one man child in a class of a hundred, hungry, talented young people, the very cream of the proverbial harvest-moon-crop. Just one balding Alec Baldwin in a school of Abigail Breslins. Now they can take it easy, smoke pot, drink four loko, miss classes and boogie all night long to the musical stylings of DJ Snake, because they’ve got a whole extra decade to mortgage.

Problem is, I don’t think they know this. Damn kids with their raw talent, and their endless supply of excess energy. As a 30 plus lower middle class metrosexual I’ll need bring to bear every ounce of tofu- and fairtrade coffee powered brain cells I can muster to meet the challenge of the industry leaders of tomorrow.

So henceforth I’m giving myself a challenge. I’m gonna pitch a game design every single week.

I’m starting with 2D shooters, mainly because that’s the theme of our first large group assignment at campus. I’m designing one anyway, so I might as well do five more, just to get the hang of it.

Yeah, I’ll be designing 2D shooters for the next five weeks. And I challenge all of my fellow game design students at Campus Gotland to do the same.

I will post the pitch documents here, but I will also make videos of the pitches and post them on youtube.

And with those words, it’s on.
