Undigitize a digital game!

Hello again!

How in the world do you undigitize a digital game? It is actually simple. You pick a digital game, for example Counter Strike. And then you break it down into pieces, the core experience and rebuild it into a board game. Counter Strike has different core experiences, for example:

  • Teamwork to win
  • Shoot enemies to win
  • Accomplish missions to win (Defuse/Plant bomb)

What I just did was to break down the game into it basic core experiences. This is a couple of core experiences that Valve built worldwide popular game around. After breaking down the game into this form, we started to build our own version. We were the same people in the group as we were in ”Firefighter 2014″.

We had a day to finish this game, and have it ”play ready” for people. The following day (yesterday) we displayed our game and let our class mates play it. I was really nervous because of all the flaws I felt that the game might have. When the people started to play our game it started to proceed in its natural flow and it actually turned out to be a good game. The people who played it actually enjoyed it, and asked us to make more maps. For you who has played Counter Strike, we made a board with the map ”De_dust”. They wanted more boards with different maps, so that is always positive. Like in previous posts, I will display a couple of pictures of the game board, characters and rules. So if you would like to try our game, just download the pictures!
