Wear-down effect on truck!
|
Hey there reader(s), here comes my weekly post. Last week I didn’t manage to get everything done, I had a drawing of the truck to do. It was meant to be used for the picture that you see of the truck when you upgrade in the costumization menu. I’m still not quite done with it yet, but I have been working on other things this week instead. The truck is about halfway done at this point, besides there are a few days left of the week, so there is time left to get it done. Some other things that I have been working on this week are weardown pictures of the level 1 truck sprite. As the truck gets more damaged it changes sprites to a more damaged looking sprite. I had three of these to make this week, and that is what I have spent today doing. I wasn’t quite sure how I would go about making these weardown sprites. I spent some time just testing to see what would work. I’m pretty pleased with the outcome of the sprites. It wasn’t too hard in the end. I started with making my truck look more damaged, I put some tares in the fabric, and added a few bullet holes in the front part of the truck. I saved what I had done so far in a seperate Photoshop file. I then added more and more damage to the truck, saving as different stages. Each sprite representing the level of damage the truck has taken. There are four different stages of damage if you include the completely undamaged version of the truck. I also started working on the level three version of the truck sprite. Last week I made the level two sprite of the truck. I am very pleased with the level two version of the truck, I thought it was very easy to make and I had inspiration to do it. The level three version of the truck is, unfortunately, a different story. I’m having a hard time getting inspiration for it. My first idea was just to make a turret base on the roof, and then make a turret in a different Photoshop file, so that the turret was free from the truck and could move freely. Ladbon didn’t like the idea so I didn’t go for it, which was probably the right choice anyway. I’m having a difficult time adding even more detail to the level three truck. I kinda got an idea about what I’m going to do now, so hopefully I won’t have to sit all weekend banging my head against the keyboard trying to get it to work. Thanks for reading! //Seamus Newman
