Boring Warrior – a Major Assignment
|
For me and my group’s major assignment, we were handed two words which we needed to base our 2D Space Shoot ‘Em Up on. Those word were “Boring” and “Warrior”… Yeah… In previous meetings we settled on what our game should be about and what the game should contain. We decided on a game where you play as the final spark of “Inspiration and Liveliness” inside the mind of a bored person. The mind (the playing field) is going to start of as a gray and bland level with minimal to no lively colors. But as the player progress the levels are going to get more and more color and a livelier design. The enemies, that the player needs to beat, are remnants of your Inspiration, Imagination and Motivation. They have been infected by a black goo called Monotony. The Monotony has spread like a virus in the players mind, infecting all that keeps you up and happy. When the player beats an enemy; the enemy will burst and spread more color into the world. We have also settled on different kinds of enemies and weapons, but this post would be so long if I even started to talk about them. Maybe in a later post! Today we sat down and talked about what our roles should be during this project, and the result was:
Adam mentioned only 5 titles in his PowerPoint, so we had to improvise on one of the titles (Associate Designer). We all have been chugging in on different parts during this project so it wasn’t super obvious on who should be what. Even though I took a role (not really planning on it) as producer early on, Henrik has shown interest to become a producer. And we all knew he had experience in game making before, so we decided it would be a good pick. So I can probably expect to move around the team helping those who need it and maybe act more as a Associate Designer/Producer. Our next meeting is due on Thursday where we will be continuing the paper prototype and our Pitch document. |
