Blog 3: Scrum in our development

Today’s blog will be about Scrum and how scrum have affected the development of our game. Scrum has had a positive impact on the game as the development has been smooth and we have been able to change things we did not like and adapt to other things we felt were lacking or did not match our expectations. It has also been smooth using the sprints as we got a goal to work towards, and the daily stand-up meetings have […]

Scrum in Archon

Working with scrum has been useful to plan out workflow but difficult because the team fails at the execution. While we were all given some prior knowledge of what scrum entails, nobody in the group has had any  practical experience with it before. The team has done a great job of planning and distributing work for each sprint and everyone (almost always) actively attends the daily stand-up meetings. The issues come with gauging work hours needed compared to actual work […]

Working with Scrum

Hello again, this is Hampus Bergström the game designer in team Wendigo that is currently working on the game Umibōzu. For this course we have been introduced to and are working in Scrum a subset of the agile framework.  Scrum has helped us a lot with communication within the team, it is always clear what someone is working on and what is being worked on thanks to the daily stand-up meetings that are incorporated in Scrum. Without the meeting everyday […]

Developing Games with Scrum

Hi all! Today I will talk about Scrum, how it has affected our developing process and what it has done for my group over the period of time we have been using it.
Scrum has been an agile tool/method to use for me and my group, not to the extent that I would hope it would have been, but enough to notice that it has given us a clear structure on how a development process should look like. When I say […]

Working in scrum – daily sprint meetings

I’m Guy Dimor, lead code for team Wendigo, and today I’ll be writing about scrum, daily sprint meetings, getting used to said meetings and incorporating them into my daily schedule.
Going into this project, I had no idea what scrum is or how it works, nor did I have any particular interest in anything relating to project management. However, once I had scrum explained to me, most of it seemed rather intuitive.
While it wasn’t too challenging, I still needed to put […]

Dev Blog #3 -How We Work

Hello again!
This week I will be writing about how our team works during the game production, which we do by follow the Scrum framework. Scrum is an agile framework especially tailored for software development, so naturally it works very well for game production as well. When working with Scrum, the goal is to often and continuously produce increments/a shippable product, in this case working versions of the game. To do this, we work in sprints. Under normal conditions a sprint […]

Dum-du-dum Scrum!

Today I want to talk about… Uhm… Scrum.
Yes, I know to all my new visitors, the word Scrum might seem like a new, strange word, or if not, good! You’ve done your homework in game design! But for the rest of us game design students, scrum is a planning device that the people that I’ve met in my course either love or hate. Or maybe I should say, in the time that I have used Scrum, I have both loved […]

Review of the Scrum pattern

It has been five weeks since we start to follow the Scrum working pattern, I got fully used to it and realized a reliable project management will increase the efficiency and cooperation of the group to a large extend.
“The Scrum is a lightweight framework designed to help small, close-knit teams of people develop complex products. A scrum team typically consists of around seven people who work together in short, sustainable bursts of activity called sprints, with plenty of time for […]

Blog Post #3 – Scrum

Scrum is a method of development in which certain portions of the work are divided into weekly packages called Sprints. Scrum also calls for daily standup meetings which are simply short meetings to go over the previous day.
I think the scrum method has been extremely helpful in the development of Behemoth. I have found it makes keeping track of everything that needs to be done very well and also prevents each member of the group from getting too bogged […]

Cut my life into stand-ups, this is my Scrum approach… Correlation, No waterfall…. Don’t give a truck, if you click this post, reading

Hello!
Today I will be sharing my experiences with Scrum as a producer (Scrum master??) for team Kraken.
Don’t mind the title, just follow the tune
Sprints and tasks
For this project, the sprint length was pre-determined to be 1 week long (although 2-4 week long sprints are most effective), which I am not very content with. However looking from another perspective, it makes fellow team members work pretty much every day. Starting with small steps is good for them, rather than starting with […]

2018.02.22 – Agile-ish Game Development w/ Scrum

A primer on Scrum
Source: https://blog.ganttpro.com/en/waterfall-project-management-methodology-pros-and-cons/
Today we will be tackling a topic many of your may have heard of, SCRUM. Some call it agile development, some lean, others yet have referred to it as Kanban practices. All of them are fulfilling a certain need to move away from traditional management, often called waterfall management due to the way it plans, schedule and executes projects.
SCRUM has been the preferred management methodology for software development for a while.  However, it has […]

Visual design choices in conjunction with SCRUM

Friendship Down is the first form of concrete game development that our group, a squad of first year students, undertake. Lack of prior experience – potentially both within the field of our respective minors and in the processes of development as a whole – was initially present in all of us. It was important to consider this context as we moved into the production of the game. SCRUM encourages an early assessment of risks and potential causes of project failure, […]
