3D Challenge – Day 3

Today I have learned about modifiers and segments.
A modifier can be added to a primitive to change its appearance. However, the primitive’s original appearance will be preserved. In this example i used a “Bend” modifier to bend a cylinder primitive:

I also learned about segments in primitives. By changing the number of segments, the appearance can be change as well. More segments looks smoother while less segments looks edgy. So i added a lot more height segments to the cylinder to […]

Final Crunch

We have arrived at final week of the project. So, what can I say about this so far?, I have gotten to know my teammates and how our group dynamic works. I have learned a few tricks while having to do all these animations due to the camera angle of our game (asymmetric). Also what happened due to our planning and my personal work plan.
As usual an overhaul was a part of the project because we could not get it […]

Snow Day Mayhem – the finishing touches

So last week we had the Beta deadline, which we passed! It was just barely, but we passed. Again, I think the teachers’ judgement was fair, as our game is still a bit buggy and not very polished.
Right now we are mostly working on the finishing touches, playtesting and balancing as well as making the menu and the tutorial.
This is what our game looks like right now:

(Although, as I am writing this we have fixed the ugly black borders […]

Prosopon – Play your role…Whatever it might be!

For a few weeks now I have been working on a game called Prosopon together with five other students from my class. I have the role as lead designer this project.

Prosopon is a game that takes place in ancient Greece. The player plays as a actor that have forgotten their lines and what play they are in from having a bit too much to drink the day before. The player have to […]

Theme Park: Pre-Beta – It’s time to penguin up!

Hi again!
At the time of the last post we were in the middle of a hectic pre-alpha scramble with an overhauled concept and a lot to to do with little time to do it. By now I can tell you that we passed our alpha-presentation and have been working diligently  toward our Beta-deadline next week.
With all  basic mechanics in place, we have been working on implementing (amongst other things) new levels, hazards, powerups, a dash-mechanic and a new GUI.
As you […]
