Challenge – Not the BEES!!
This week my classmate Sebastian and I have been working on a concept challenge. In one weeks time we had to come up with a Video Game Concept with help from Rory’s Story Cubes. The app randomizes dices and with help from these you have to come up with a narrative for your video game. Three of these images were turtles and bees and a questionmark. From these we came up with a

GameJam!
We recently had our very first Game Jam session! It was a ton of fun and quite a learning experience.
We had to use Game Maker, so it was very simple sprite graphics and simple mechanics that had to be repeated throughout in order to make an exciting game. (Moving left and right, jumping etc).
Most teams were mixed with first, second and third year students. Obviously it was quite difficult for us first year students to make a worthwhile contribution, since most […]

Game concept challenge
Last week there was some misunderstanding between the teachers here at Campus Gotland which resulted in us not having any lectures during the entire week. Instead we were given an assignment to make a game concept based on randomly generated narratives. To generate this narrative my group used the website TheyFightCrime, this website generates random narratives about a man and a woman who fights crime. The narrative my group generated was:
She is a blood-thirsty UN-senator with someone elses […]

Narrative challenge
During the past week, I’ve been working on a narrative challenge that our teacher gave us. The challenge was basically to randomly generate a story or plot and then use it as a basis for a game. I used an online generator that I love, called Writing Exercises.
The random plot points I got were these:
a foolish 21-year-old woman
a cruel 40-year-old woman
the story begins on a farm
someone recieves an inheritance
it’s a story about freedom
your character takes control of the situation
The […]

Game: Spectral Traces
A game design by Emma Mörk.
“Want to hear the other side’s part of the story? In Spectral Traces you can find the truth from the spirits that has yet to pass to the other side.
Switch between the two main characters to gather information from the dead and the living to solve the mysterious crimes in a darkening city. Solve puzzles to access hidden areas, and witness the consequences whether you caught the right guy or not.”
That’s the […]
