3D Computer Graphics: Theory and Application I, Post 7

This is my seventh post relating to course 5SD045, it is an update of my progress on assignment 3 – the third major coursework hand-in – and a theoretical Q&A about traditional art and anatomy. Lectures were held on 2014-10-14 and 2014-10-15.
In addition to that and as there isn’t much else to cover this week, I’ll quickly touch on the results of assignment 2 to provide some closure to the assignment.

Intimate Supernatural

So last week we were given two randomly drawn words to base a concept on, and the words my group got was “Intimate” and “Supernatural”. The were some restrictions that we had to follow that were the following:

2D
No gravity systems in the game
PC Controls(Keyboard/Mouse)
The scope of the production time if the concept should be 10 weeks
No network
Single-Player (Multiplayer or Co-Op can be optional, but the game must be playable for one player first and foremost)

Then there were some requirements that had to […]

MY FIRST JAM – GAMEJAM

A couple of days ago I attended my first gamejam, it’s quite of a tradition here at UU, Campus Gotland. Both first, second and third year students get together in teams to make a fully playable game during a couple of hours. The time you get depends on the rules of the jam. This time we had from 10.00 A.M. until 6 P.M. My team consisted of 5 other first year students, me and two other programmers, and three guys […]

Quickly summing-up

So, I have soon been here at UU, Campus Gotland, for about two months. There has been some stressful times but i’ve truly enjoyed my stay so far.

Our first assignment was to break the game Space invaders down and analyze different objects. We were told to take the objects on the screen and break it down in to 3 different subcategories, objects, properties and behaviors. For an example, the player craft in the game is an object. The speed which the […]

work of the week

So, we got an assignment to design a game based on two randomly choosen words in groups of around 5-6 people. Our group got the words dragon and oscilloscope. When we brainstormed we was thinking about how an oscilloscope have frequences and that it is sometimes used for music instruments and then came up with the idea to use the words for a music game where u play a dragon “singing” out frequenses and different tones. These tones can be […]
