Developers Diary. Meeting 4. Jetpack Orangutan.

Today (22/10 -14) we had our 4th meeting in order to lay a solid foundation for our pitch, and determine what we wanted to do for the next few weeks. After a rather stagnant weekend with a few members (including me) of our group having left the island to spend time with friends and family, it was time to get back on the horse and plan the next phase of our game concept.
In order to start with the pitch, we […]

Developers Diary. Meeting 3. Jetpack Orangutan.

I came home from Stockholm after visiting family and celebrating my sisters birthday.
Upon arrival I went to bed and the following morning (21/10 -14) we met for the third time to start production on our paper prototype.
Our first problem arose very early. We had no materials to build. However, as we knew exactly what we wanted for our prototype, what we wanted to deliver, we knew what materials were needed and we set out to find some. After picking up […]

Things are coming to an end.

Well not really, but at least for my pending course, Game Analysis & Game Design. The final assignment we were handed is a five week Concept project. We were divided into groups by six and were handed two random words that we were supposed to follow when we designed our game. Right now we are two weeks in, and we still have three weeks to go. This is such a big project that I felt that an update about halfway […]

The different suits of Mary

Continuing on our five weeks project spoken about in the previous post.

This week we first had a brief meeting discussing the basic mechanics of the games. How the character is going to move, shoot etc. We changed a few things. First, we would have the game runt from room-to-room, but now we decided on a continuously moving screen not locked to the player avatar. We decided this because it would offer a better flow to the game, and a bigger […]

Desert Noir Paper Prototype UPDATE

Here is a one-page rule explanation of our paper prototype. It represents our core gameplay which is run and gun combat. When people playtested it, they found it really fun to run around freely and some people even started climbing chairs. Even though that was unplanned, it actually kept the core experience intact.
This thursday, we’re going to show off our prototypes. I believe our players will run around and have a lot of fun 😀
