Introduction:
This is my review of Mikaela from group 5’s analysis of:
“A Game of Thrones: The Board Game, Second Edition”.

Core game system:
I agree that the Resource Management is the core game system. The game is all about coming up with a strategy to claim and conquer as many castles and as much land as possible, and in order to do so the player needs to keep track of their tokens and armies and think about when […]

Creating 3D crates
Further into our 3D computer graphics course we students were assigned to create 3 different crates using the 3D studio max software. The 3 crates had to each present 3 different game styles of our choosing. While creating the crates we had to keep in mind what we learned during our first few lectures about the 7 elements of art and apply that to our work. The game styles I chose to create my crates in were sci-fi, cartoon and […]

3D1, week 2 assignment
For this assignment I will model some crates and chest to try to follow an art style and I will also discuss the similarities and differences in these styles. I will present three different themes:
Medieval
So going for medieval I tried to achieve the same feel as if we looked at a chest from like skyrim, if we want to folow the artstyle of the medieval era we often think of alot of wood, metal and leather. as this is me […]

3D I, Week 3, Part 2: Assignment 2
This is will be my first blog report on the second big modeling assignment we will turn in during this course.
On the Tuesday of this week, the class met up at Gotlands Museum to have a tour and to choose an object on display which we will model for this assignment. After taking the tour, I had a walk around the exhibit and chose to model a necklace.
The necklace from the exhibit I have chosen to model.
We had a […]

Museum Assignment
This week we went to the Gotland Museum, after being given a tour we were asked to find an object that we wanted to model in the 3D-course and take reference photos of it.
I chose this chalice after discussing with my teacher, the reason I chose it was because I wanted to create something that would give me a challenge, while still being able to complete it. It was a bit difficult to choose as I felt that most […]

Optimizing 3D
This week we have been optimizing our crates that we created last week. We were divided into groups of three and all got to optimize a crate made by the others and one that you made yourself. There is not much I can say or anything new to show of my medieval and my urban contemporary crate as my colleagues that were tasked with optimizing them found nothing to fix.
I believe that this is because of their simple natures, […]

3D I, Week 3, Part 1: Crate Cleanup
This week in 3D we went through cleaning up construction errors in a model. In this blog, I’ll recap and reflect on the Wednesday workshop, where we passed our crate models from last week around for other people in class to clean up.
First I had a look at my cartoon crate from last week.
My cartoon crate, before cleanup.
This crate is incredibly simple. I made it just by creating a box, making extrusions in the center, then moving and resizing […]

3D week two!
Theme one:
I decided to pick cartoony for my first theme. The cartoon style is usually comprised of very simplified objects and shapes, often accompanied by a very happy and colorful color scheme. Objects in cartoon games are normally exaggerated in size, usually bigger than in real life. Cartoon styled games are often directed towards teenagers and children.
A game which I think fits into the cartoon category is Battlefield Heroes. Even though the object of the game is to run […]

3D Computer Graphics: Blog Post Week 2
Theme one:
The theme sci-fi can easily be described as futuristic. When someone says sci-fi I immediately think of star wars. Shiny ships with ion engines and lots and lots of dashboards with blinking light.
Sci-fi basically points to the idea of science and inventions that have not yet been developed.
Image 1: Eve online.
I think this image represents the theme sci-fi pretty accurately. The image depicts a space ship mid-flight. The ship is very high tech and although we have somewhat […]

All the Crates!
Medieval
When it comes to the classic crate there is not much difference between the medial and contemporary shipping crate. The importance of distinction on the props in a game should never be understated, the barrels and containers from the Dwemer ruins of Vvardenfell in Morrowind is something I will never forget, the regular crates in the game though are just so regular. But the dwemer are not medieval, they are more advanced and therefore store things in steel kegs and […]
