3D I, Week 6, Part 2: Assignment 3, Character

In this blog post I will detail the character I have been assigned to model for Assignment 3. This character was designed and written by Camilla Jacobsen.

Character
The character I will be modeling is a young boy around the age of 7 or 8 named William. He is the oldest son of a lord, and serves as a page for a knight.
William is an energetic boy who loves swordfighting and playing with the other kids around the castle. He […]

3D Week 5 – Assignment 2 update

Here we go, finally an update on Assignment 2. I feel that I’m about a week behind schedule, but I’m trying and working as hard as I can to catch up again. This will be a short update, just to show you how far I’ve come. As mentioned in one of my last blogposts, I’ve been stupidly busy lately with many different assignments at once. For this assignment (Assignment 2 in the 3D1 course) we were tasked with modelling real-life […]

A Font

I have recently finished the baptismal font I was working on. Since a font is usually filled with water during baptisms, I decided to try and use that in the texture. I added algae to bowl and decorations. I figured that the font might have been kept in use for a very long time, even though the font and church in which it belonged had fallen into ruin. Then the font would have remained wet after ceremonies, water would have […]

Assignment 2

So here we go later than ever, this was almost finished more than a week ago, I really don’t like writing these things.
So for assignment two we were to model an object after a reference from the museum.
So I ended up doing a Vendel era sword the particular piece is a reconstruction of a sword found in Högbro.
The Swedish Vendel era connects the later parts of the migration period with the Viking age of the proper middle ages and is […]

3D I, Week 6, Part 1: Assignment 3, Worldbuilding

For assignment 3, we will be modeling characters. This week, we designed our characters and, rather than starting on the model ourselves, we were instructed to hand our character over to someone else in the class. In this we are effectively clients, while the people who will be modeling our characters are the artists.
To ensure that the artist can model out their assigned character with accuracy, we were instructed to create both visual and written references. The visual references include […]

Texturing sci-fi crate

After having my three crates optimized, the next step was to pick one of them to later texturize. I originally had planned to texturize my cartoony crate, which I’ve actually done a whole new version of, but because it came out fairly complex I decided that for starters try to texturize my sci-fi crate instead. Below is my sci-fi crate with a UV checker on.

Since I mentioned in one of my earlier blogposts that I wanted to take inspiration […]

Mystery project – Post #1

I have started to create a 2d game using C++, SFML and Box2D. It has been in the works for about a week now and I have grand plans for it.
Before starting on this project I have been trying to figure out what type of game I would like to create on the side, while studying. I have created several game concepts and now I’ve finally found one that I believe in.
I will not be able to work this project continously […]
