Game-design in practice, group post #2

The first week of the project we decided to sit down and make a plan on how to create our game, what we should include and exclude from the project. To minimize the risk of letting the project get to big so that we wont have time to finish a MVP(Minimal Viable Product). We chose to work with a tool named “KanBanFlow”, which are a method for visualizing the flow of work, in order to balance demand with available capacity and […]

Game-design in practice, group post #1

We have gotten an assignment where we have to make a product and have a succeeding marketing so you can sell it to an audience. As a group we decided to make a 2D game with a isometric camera view, a twin stick shooter game in a arena setting with different game modes(capture the flag, battle royal etc.). The genre of the game would be pixel like with a steampunk theme to it.
Our group contains a total of 6 members, […]

Sweden Game Conference 2017

Brie Code at the Swedish Game Conference 2017

A bunch of us in the GAME Department – Magnus Johansson, Adam Mayes, Jakob Berglund, Ulf Benjaminsson and Danielle Uneus (student rep) – visited the “Sweden” Game Conference in Skövde this week. We went primarily to network and meet friends, old and new. Brie Code – who in large parts was the inspiration for last years’ Gotland Game Conference theme – was there.
As was Åsa Roos, Constance Steinkuehler, […]

Lighting for Health Revision

During the development of Four Days Before School I worked on using lighting to represent the amount of health the player had. The decision to use lighting for health was made because we had one programmer and two artists, so since we would have more man hours for graphics work, we wanted to focus on the aesthetic and atmosphere of the game and chose a concept based on that. Since the game depicted a child dreaming, the idea of using […]

City builders: Zeus/Poseidon

Note: To see the screenshots properly you have to enlarge the whole page. Free WordPress doesn’t allow enlarging images separately, unfortunately.
During this summer I only had the access to my laptop for most of the time. Unfortunately, it’s too much of a toaster to play any serious games for too long, so instead, I played some of my guilty pleasure games from the days bygone. Since the guilty pleasure I picked for my summer activity were old city building games, […]

The Stream Scheme

At the time of writing this post I am now a third year student, things have gotten a little bit more serious and we have been tasked with developing a product for a specific target audience with a final goal of releasing the product. The idea is that after this course we’ll have learned how to market ourselves as well as our product and of course, the importance of finding an audience that is actually into whatever it is you’re […]

What Knytt Stories taught me.

Finally, back to the blog after a scandalous amount of procrastinating…

Our first assignment of the year was to build a level in a game called Knytt Stories. It’s a platformer game with a minimum amount of mechanics that is easy to grasp and play. This game also has a very simple though limited level editor that the students were required to use for the construction of the level. The assignment itself stated that we had to convey a dramatic narrative […]

A look back at the creatures of Trust!

I am refreshing my blog with some of the creatures from the game Trust that didn’t make it to the blog in time. I will just show the different creatures! The blog is a great way for me to remember the things I’ve done and I realised that there were many of them absent!

Sleeping rock troll!

Waking rock troll!

Water troll!

The arms, coming out of the water to try and grab the kids!

Tree Troll!

Tree troll arms! Suddenly these could come out […]

The Heartbeakers

Hello everybirdy!
I was recently invited to join the development of a friend’s game, which is super exciting! Before I joined the team was only two people, an artist/designer and a programmer. They asked me to do the writing for the game and of course I jumped at the opportunity!
As much as I love 2D and 3D work, narrative writing has a special place in my heart.

So, it’s a strategy game called The Heartbeakers, in which you play as a small […]

ZBrush Mouth Modeling!

Woho! Zbrush has started!
Ok so, we are one week into the zbrush course and I think it’s time I share my work progress. Our first assignment is to model mouths, ears, noses and eye’s, 3-sets of each.

Mouth 1
Starting of in zbrush I was very confused to how to do my work. Luckily some tutorials helped me get started. I started by choosing 3 images of people with different types of mouths to use as reference images when modeling.
This was my […]
