Assignment 2 Update

An update on Assignment 2! It took a while finding textures that i found satisfactory (still not sure if they are), but at the current state it’s pretty close to how I imagined it to be. Simple in design, as it’s crafted by the common folk and not for some wealthy noble. With runes to signify a personal value to whoever made it.

The runes are Anglo-Saxon, engraved into the iron in a rough […]

Assignment 3: Part 1

This week I’ve been provided with the character concept for Assignment 3 from a client. Here’s the concept sheet.

The instructions I received involved a fairly detailed ghoul-like creature. A horrid construct created by dark forces to do their bidding. While terrifying, my client wanted another side of the character to be reflected as well. It would be as if this creature wasn’t completely mindless, but had in fact started to regain some semblance of thought and identity. It would […]

Suit and Telephone

For our next project we were assigned to make a space shooter game in five weeks. More or less.
We have the restrictions that the game must fulfill which is as follows;

No Gravity. The game shall not contain elements that an additional force needs to be programmed. So jumping can’t be a feature in the game, yet walking up and down is allowed.
The game needs to be played on PC.
It needs to have 2D Graphics.
Can be produced within 10 weeks.
The game […]

3D Computer Graphics I: Assignment 3 Introduction

As I explained in my last post, we students have switched character concepts with each other. I was lucky to receive Jenny’s concept, which I had been looking at with curiosity during class. Here is his background, as well as some info about the potential game itself and some notes for the 3D-modeling.

About Alfred
His name is Alfred, but his wife and the few friends he has usually call him Alf or Alfie if they want a favor. He is a […]

Museum and Silver Dagger!

I chose a silver dagger that was located in a cabinet in the room with all the silver treasures that they had on display at the museum. I choose this object because I didn’t really find anything else that I felt like modeling. Even though I believe this is not a complex object to model as I would want to have it might do me good because I don’t have that much time to do it ( I have a […]

Advanced Hard Surface Modeling Assignment – UV-mapping and Texturing

Textures and UV-mapping have been occupying all my time this week. After getting through the UV-mapping without going completely insane I was looking forward to start with the texturing since it will bring a bit more life to the model I have been working on for a while now!
Being inspired by the new Call of Duty game, I decided that phototextures would fit my model the best. So I browsed cgtextures.com to find something that would be similar […]

3D week 06 – Assignment 3: part 1

Hi
This is the first post out of three about our final assignment for this course. The assignment is to model and texture a character-concept made by another student in our class.  The concept I was given is made by Seamus Newman.
All I was given by Seamus is a turnaround of the character, with no background or story at all. No information about what type of game he is suited in or what his purpose is (all that pre-production information you […]

3D – Week 6 – Assignment 3 – Character world

This week we began preparing for our third assignment in the 3D1 course. The first thing that we were to do was to create a character each, that another student then will be modelling. I designed the character Sam, a young adult humanoid sphynx cat, that Christoffer will be modelling.
To begin with I only created the images for Sam, with a turnaround and an action pose, without any thought on what kind of game he […]
