The Morker

Originally we planned to have two types of ranged enemies in our game. The first, labeled “the Workers” were supposed to stand faced against the wall, not noticing the player until they were attacked. When this happens, they would swarm the player and try to shoot her down. The second type of enemy was to be a flying moth character, that would fly around in random patterns, making him a difficult target, while at the same time firing down at […]

The Wasp, the Warror, the Goon

The first Enemy you will face in our game, is the unit known only as ‘the Warrior’. He is your basic melee attacker, and will walk up to you and try to strike you down.
Since all our enemies are supposed to be bugs, we did not have too many different options to chose for the warrior role. In the end, it came down to either a moth, due to their habit of eating clothes, or a wasp, due to their […]

First Animation

I am not unfamiliar with animation, in fact, I studied animation in highschool. While it might not have been as in depth as I wished it would have been, it has still given me an advantage. Consequently, I was tasked with tackling the animation of our project.
What I consider the most important aspect to keep in mind when animating a character, is to make them look alive. This becomes quite the challange, considering the top-down perspective that we’re using. […]

Wait, what project?

This week has been a complete mess. We started with our development project this week, however, I didn’t know that, and as a reslut I missed pretty much the entire introduction to the course, as well as the first meeting with my group. Apparently, the reason for this lack of information is that I wasn’t properly signed up for this semester, and therefore I’ve been running around, trying to set things right.
As it appears, everything is now as it’s suposed […]

I haven’t written anything since our design project, so I guess I should write a bit about what happened since then. Our project was a successs without doubt. The week after the presentation was probably the most relaxed week we had since school started. I don’t really remember what happened after that, I went to Stockholm for Gamex at some point… Hmm…
Eventually our 2D course started. I thought it would be one of the easier courses for me, since I […]

Tough Week

This has probably been the toughest week so far. Previously we’ve had about two assignments per week, one simple from design and one simple from communication. This week we had an assignment about three times as large as the usual one from communication, we had to play through Bioshock: Infinite and then write a 1000 word narrative analysis along with a few character “analysises”? I don’t know if that’s a word, anyway, in addition to that, we also have the […]

First entry: Getting started with the design project.

Sup dawgs, this is the first entry in my school blog, where I’ll be writing about scchool related stuff.
Last week we started off with our Space Shoot-Em-Up game projects. We’ve got the words “Suburbia” and “Supernatural” to work with. Things have been progressing smoothly, fast enough? Can’t say for sure, but at least we’re making progress. The mood in the group is good, however I must admit we had a few disagreements , nothing we haven’t been able to solve […]
