Game Programming I – assignment day 5

Created the class Player as a child class to Entity.
Got the sprite to load on to the window, problem was simply a missing / in the file path.
Discovered a new problem though, the sprite is loaded with the background from the file rather than just the sprite.
Found a couple other files to use where only the sprite get’s loaded onto the window.
Maybe work on making the player move later.

Game Programming I – day 4

Game Programming I – day 4

Continued work on the project for a few hours today, the goal was to print out the player sprite on the screen
Created the classes: SpriteManager and Entity. Entity will be the parent class for all classes of game objects.

Game programming I – assignment day 3

Decided on which sprite sheet to use and which particular sprite to be used as player model.
Started coding the game. Made a window that is moveable and closes when pressing the x.
Started working on sprite management in order to be able to print out sprites on the window.
Made classes Engine, Draw Manager and Sprite. Need to make a sprite manager.

Started repeating code used in lectures and workshops to better understand their syntax and how they work.
Also started thinking about what game to make.

Speech and powerpoint mostly done now, any eventual final polish will happen today but at least our spokesman have something to practice on now. Will need to write down instructions for the paper prototype.

After finishing up the prototype and getting some more feedback I’ve sat down to help write the pitch as well as the powerpoint presentation that will be used in conjecture with it. I believe we have covered all the neccessary things that can be said in a 5 minute timeframe, we now need to polish it and time it to perfection.

So we’re supposed to design a space shooter. We got two key words, ”thoughtless” and ”badger”. this week we started with our high concept as well as what the game should be like in general. there is much left to do naturally, but at least we have started on it.
