Sprint planning + progression (?)

As usual I am going to write about the past week and what I’ve done as a coder in the group. So last week I had a bunch of things to, and the following picture showes what the assigned tasks were that I was expected to do:

As you can see there were a total of eight artifacts and the estimated work hours summed up to a total of whopping 52 hours in a week, so it isn’t hard to imagine how it went… A normal week’s work is 40 hours and since the course is a “50 % course” it basically means that you’re expected to work for 20 hours, and our teacher even said so himself that we should aim at 20 hours a week. One reason why it still went up as high as to 52 hours was the lack of communication I’d say with the producer. The producer last week gave me these tasks to do, but expected an estimation from me of how long time it will take to complete them and at that moment I really didn’t know, so we started with the next one in the group and in the meantime I’d fill in the hours. But I was done after the meeting was done so that explains why it went way over normal expected working hours.

Anyway I worked with the two first artifacts and as you can see the risk is “high” there because of my ability to code. And yet again I underestimated the time to finish the highscore list task and haven’t been done with it still. However, I want to complete one so that I’ve done something and the best way is to really ask a teacher. I agree that I could’ve done this earlier and that week was probably one of my worst performances ever; even when I wasn’t absent one single day in the daily group meetings. It is important to still work with the group so that everyone takes part of the decisions being made. And that’s why this blog post isn’t that rich on content, because I really don’t have much else to say because I am not finished yet…

So last week I decided to contact a student assistance whose purpose is to help with coding, and I got help but didn’t get done with the highscore part yet, and I’m going to ask for some more to finally be able to create one. So what have I got so far when it comes to the code? Well, I’ll write more about that next week.
