The last Fishburger

This is my 5th and final blog post for Selfish and we are pretty much done. Minor tweaks and fixes lies ahead as we have less than a week until our final deadline. Rather than talking about what exactly I’ve been doing this week I’m going to attempt to wrap up this project.

This is the first time I’ve created an actual game and this is the first time I’ve been working in scrum. These weeks have been incredibly educational and useful. I have learnt tons. But the two most important things have been to work with an actual team and to design a game in practice. Here is a sneak peak of our game:

We need to divide up the level transitions and implement the actual waves but otherwise it’s pretty much a warp.  From the surveys we’ve made we have been hitting our aesthetic goals very well.

  • Humoristic
  • Actionful
  • Cute
  • Challenging
  • Underwater feeling

And i’m proud that we have been able to keep a vision of the game from the start and created something by ourselves. Even though we’re no where close the first idea of the game it’s still possible to recognize a lot of the ideas.

Even though we’re happy with our results people are tired. We have been working up to 20h each week on this game since start. It’s gonna feel great to be done, and we all agree about that. Because of our great teamwork and synergy we are partly sticking together for theme-park which is gonna be great! A new project, new motivation, new ideas and new design.

I want to bring up something that happened to me this week. I finally got really tiered of our game. I’ve been loving to work on it during the project, but now it finally hit the wall. I lost my motivation. But I guess endless testing and adjustment of variables isn’t something anyone want to do forever. I’m just happy that this part came in the end of the project. After all someone has to do it, and I was best fitted in my team to do it. After all I’m studying “Test-driven game design”.

As I started to run thin on material last week and nothing comes to mind at the moment I’m going to finish up this blog. I’m looking forward to play everyone’s games next week. Swim tight!
