Has the entertainment industry gone too far?

Today was an ordinary day where I finally had some spare time on my hands and decided to watch a movie. I don’t know what came over me but I wanted to watch the “How to train your dragon 2″- Movie as I really liked the first one I watched and I have been thinking about watching this one for a while.

Everything was all well en good but this time I was watching this movie in a different way, I was looking at the graphics, the story the illustrations, choice of colors and more. This is all thanks to the education I am in right now and it had taught me to see beyond only a “Pleasing” movie or game. I was fascinated, the physics of the water splashing, or as spit leftovers from “hickups” dragon, the textures and the animations where beautiful. And the story was pretty OK, they did not show the protagonist at first and he was covered in shadow which made it interesting!
Anyways, as the story proceeded things got pretty neat, new and cool dragons, he also met a new interesting character which I first thought would be the antagonist but turned out to be someone else… and finally reaching the enemy camp where the antagonist was going to be revealed. I was like; “hell yeah! now we are going to see a big bad viking that looks so dangerous!”. But what I actually got to see was as a slap in my face, I got so pissed off and wanted to shut the whole thing down, the antagonist looked like a middle eastern scarred guy with some ottoman soldiers under his rule…. stereotypical vikings…. and a Arab-looking terrorist that wants to enslave the world?
Wait a sec…. A world with dragons and Vikings… WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET THE ARAB FROM!?

What the hell am I doing here? its freezing!!!

Talk about out of context, are you serious? Is this what we teach the children today? That people that look like me are the ones to be feared?

Ok! lets take a look at this guys traits:
Dark hair, dark eyes, crooked nose, thick braided hair, scars, gray skin. Hes merciless, has a short temper, violent, wants to control the world and “punishes those who do not bow to him”.

This guy reminds me a lot of ISIS members and that’s the thing that disturbs me the most, ISIS is seen as a Muslim terrorist organisation. So the children of today will learn of these qualities and like 10 years from now this will be a standard thought that people will have implanted in their minds as they come to greet me or when having a dialogue. The unknown fear against the likes of me they carry, what is it for? to what end?
I can get that Aladdin (Disney 1992) had Arabs in it, but it was consistent! (except that Jasmine was dressed as a “harem girl” which is not a good thing at all).
I don’t know if I am going to enter this entertainment business or not but there has to be a change in the industry. The constant stereotyping or the condescending way to portray women as sex objects in games, this is going to far, how much can we accept this kind of behavior and as individuals; how can we accept this? What should I tell my children when I get older? Should they fear me as their dad? or even fear themselves?

Hopefully if I get into the industry I will try to speak for the oppressed ones and I will try to not fall into the wrong crowds. And if I do, I will try my best to have an open mind.
Its a shame that these things still occur, but what can we do when we don’t have any compassion left for “the enemies”.

This turned out to be something different from what I usually write about or post, but it did a number on me and destroyed an otherwise good movie. The industry needs a lot of new people, people that wants to do more than to just entertain and receive money from it, people that think of a brighter feature where there should be respect between one another.
Get your act together.

Oh what happened to the “Spare time” I had? ruined….

Have a nice day people!
