Working with perspective

In the week that was we learned about perspective. About how important perspective is to show what is infront of what and how far away something is in a picture. This is a subject I havent thought about very much because when you look at a good picture with correct perspective everything feels normal and looks correctly. But when you try to draw the same image yourself without the knowledge about perspective, that is when you understand how important it actually is.

We started to talk about the horizon line and the vanishing point. These are the two things that perspective build upon. The horizon line is the horizon that you would see when you look out at the ocean for example. The vanishing point is the point where all the lines are travelling towards. If you stand by a railroad for example and look away on a long strait you would see that it looks like the train tracks come together at the horizon line. this applies to all straight lines that is in a picture or the world.

As you can see in this image the lines of the road seems to go togheter at the horizon line and this is what perspective is all about. When we learned a bit more about how perspective works we got an assignment where we should draw a plane in the air and a car on the ground in the same picture with a two point perspective and this picture underneath is the result.

Inlämning vecka 2

The car looks a little twisted but it is correct perspective on all the lines in the picture.

That is all for this week.
