Assets & Scenes
|
During this week, I have been continuing with creating the graphics for my group’s game that we now call ‘’Betulla’’. First of all, I want to say that I feel like this week has been way less productive to me, compared to all of the other previous weeks since I so far have been sick and have not spent much time at all with my group. After finishing the background last week, I am now working on some smaller projects, like creating a health bar that has a matching style with the rest of the game. The health bar ended up looking like this:
What I did when creating it was using features from the main character that I created earlier. I reconstructed both the crown and a spider leg from main character, and made it into a health bar grid in order to make the player associate the grid with the main character. The health is displayed with crystals, since that is the ‘’life’’ that the main character runs on. The crystal ball to the left is going to display shots. This is how the health bar looks in the game:
Except for making the health bar, I have also started sketching on ways to show that the main character has gained extra powers, a feature that we will add to the game later on:
As the player collects crystals the main character will gain power and we need a visual for her to convey this. It is not however set in stone how this is going to look and I need to further discuss this with my group. I have lastly also been working on scenes, as me and my group have decided that if possible, we will have art in the beginning of the game that explains the narrative. Here is the description for scene 1: ‘‘Betulla wakes up on her seat. The crystal matter around her is lifeless, grey. The player doesn’t know yet that it has no energy left. Betulla leaves the tree and moves to a large crack in this section of the tree.’’ Here’s my early sketch for the scene: I recreated the main character in a front view and used features that I have been using for the background for this scene, recolored, warped and reshaped. At this point I do not feel like the picture is conveying what is supposed to happen in the scene, which I am going to develop further. Again, since I have not been communicating much with my group this week I feel like my work has been slowed down a bit.I will make sure to catch up next week! |
