3D Computer Graphics I: Assignment 3 Introduction
|
As I explained in my last post, we students have switched character concepts with each other. I was lucky to receive Jenny’s concept, which I had been looking at with curiosity during class. Here is his background, as well as some info about the potential game itself and some notes for the 3D-modeling. About Alfred His name is Alfred, but his wife and the few friends he has usually call him Alf or Alfie if they want a favor. He is a 76 year old man who’s favorite food is Scottish pie and his wives Sunday stake. Alfred is an intelligent man although he suffers from confusion and bad memory. He can tell you a lot about the past but has a hard time keeping track of current affairs. He and his wife lives on his pension from the factory he worked at. It is not a lot, but the manage to live a comfortable lives because of their life savings as well as the modest heritage they got when his wife’s parents died. History Alfred was raised in a typical British working class family during the Second World War. During the worst years he lived with older relatives on the country side. And when the war was over he had an awkward relationship with his father. The only thing they really did together was going to football matches at the weekends. Alfred has lived the typical working class life, going to work early in his youth at the local factory. In his life situation at that time, it felt like the only choice he had. He married and got a son, and kept on working until his pension to when he received his gold watch. Now he lives a secluded life in his cottage with his wife. In terms of religion, Alfred was raised into the Anglican Communion. During his adult life he took his family to church regularly but now when he is old he just goes for the bigger holidays. Physical health and hygiene With a weak body from old age, his back is crumbed. He slowly walks on two legs and often has to stop and rest for a while. Alfred takes pride in his well-kept mustache and his wife makes sure that he is clean and proper at all time, though he still has that old man smell. Hobbies He is a collector or as some would say a hoarder. He fills his house with memories and trinkets. He also enjoys model railways and trains but his wife does not want the house to be filled with trains as well. Instead he sometimes travels to the nearby theme park called “Little County” that harbors a great variety of model vehicles and towns filled with posing dolls. Family and Friends All of Alfred’s family are dead except for his wife and his son. The son moved from the little town to the big city a couple of years ago and now he is very bad at keeping in touch. Both Alfred and his wife would have liked for the son to stay in the village so they are now disappointed in him. Alfred have very few friends but he does have the other old men that visit the “Little County”. They are a fairly tight gang and they occasionally meet up in the local pub for some pints. Psychology He is the type of person that just carries on through his hardships. Even if life is troublesome he will endure an find comfort in the little things in life, like a nice cup of tea or a pretty flower. The inner rhythm of Alfred is very slow and moody. His big goal in life was to be a cowboy. The big secret he keeps is that he still want to be a cowboy. Nobody knows the secret, as far as Alfred knows. But his wife sometimes sees him galloping about in the garden. About the game: Platform: PC Target Audience: People who enjoy slow-paced games and who value beautiful environments with many details. And overall special games. Direct competition: Animal Crossing, The Sims, Goat simulator Paragraph from the game world: The game is set in a quiet and sleepy village in England. The atmosphere is moody and the villagers know that what they are now is all they will ever be, young and old. Most young people however have moved away so there are mostly old people in the village. But the village is a beautiful scenery and the flower filled gardens and quaint houses are surrounded by green hills and sparkly streams. Personal Notes The visual style is simplistic and cartoon-y, with distinct geometrical shapes. Alfred’s personal color scheme is toned down shades of brown and grey. The eyebrows and mustache will be kept separate from the rest of the model. Keep close attention to all the geometric shapes of the turnaround when modeling. Need to Know Whether or not the glasses are attached to the head. Also, a description of the visual style of the environment if required. Possible Risks The only observation so far is that the head and face has the possibility to be made out of complicated shapes. In order to make the modeling as effective and comfortable as possible, I should plan of the whole process before starting. |
