Motivation!

Yesterdays lecture by our teacher Adam Meyes was unbeliably inspiring to me. Amongst all the difficult terms, charts and diffrent ways to go about writing a game design document there was one thing he said that really stuck. When I was younger, comming up with ideas to books and drawings was second nature for me. I would listen to music before bed every night and think about characters, stories and just let my mind go to places it longed to discover. Later, of course, life happened. Less and less ideas would come to me. I stopped drawing as much as I did, stopped thinking about stories for books and games and I lost the urge to put on my headphones every night and let my mind wander. Now when I look back, I miss her. I didn’t know where I could find that creative girl again or know how to bring her back until I listened Adam’s lecture yesterday. Adam spoke about creativness is something you can practise. By doing something creative once a day during 30 days you can teach your brain to come up with ideas. That is something I have wanted to hear since the first day I started studying at the university. It gave me hope that I could be that girl again. Something creative could be anything… A sketch on a piece of paper, a text or an random idea etc. And the best part is it doesn’t even have to be good! The important part is just to create something. Don’t overthink it, just do it! Soon your brain will be as effective as Leonardo Da Vinci’s was way back when… Ok maybe not Da Vinci’s, but kinda… Creative genious, here i come! Time to doodle.
