A slightly late blog post
|
Last week turned out to be a very busy week for me personally. My sister came from Stockholm to visit and I had a terrible cold (so much for good timing). I am sorry for my post last week being this late. Last week I managed to finish pretty much everything we had planned for the environment. Being, so to speak, “done” has put me in a sort of awkward position this week, I don’t have anything left to do and today everyone else was on the final touches of their things so they didn’t have anything they needed help with. But I guess things are bound to come up during the week when things need to be polished. Anyway, this is supposed to be about last week. The most important thing I did last week was these metallic doors. In order to distinguish the doors that need to be unlocked by using a Key Card and the ones that are unlocked we decided to make them different from each other. The locked door should be more heavy-looking and solid, therefore we decided to make them metallic.
I also made some other versions of objects we already had. I made a red chair and two different kinds of tables, just changing the colours. Then there was other things that took a bit more of an effort to do. I did a coffee machine, a new plant and a sign/billboard. I mention these things as something we “already had” because we already had similar things, that filled the same gameplay purpose. We have the big object to hide behind the coffee machine versus the soda and snack machine we already had. We also have the medium sized object that you can’t hide behind but that gives the environment some colour and life. That is the new plant with flowers versus the water cooler. And we have the signs/billboards that cover the same function as the room divider/screen that is a flat object that is used to cut the guards’ line of vision in big rooms. It can also be used as wall decoration in boring and empty corridors
Something fun, for me at least, I got to do this week was changing the Main Character sprite sheet for when she is wearing a disguise, a guard’s uniform to be exact. It wasn’t a lot of hard work but it was a welcome pause from furniture. I basically took the uniform’s hat from Ida’s sprite sheet and put it on the main character’s. I also changed the colour of her blouse to the same colour as the uniform shirt.
