We started working on the Big game project about three weeks ago. Things has so far gone very smoothly an we are on schedule.. (knock on wood). My work has been to make a concept of the melee creep, make the model, skin it and then do rough animations. Done and done. With the over all concept of the game being a bit of steampunk-ish I had to get familiar with the artstyle as I’ve never done anything like it. I did a lot of browsing pictures on the net. And this is what I came up with:
I wanted a butch looking female that looked like she’d never take crap from anyone. I like to think I did just that. The main focus was the scubadiving collar that I thought make an interesting look (specially since the games its asymmetric top-down view). This was all done in the first week, so I moved on to modeling the “boss” that Henrik Rosenborg made a concept of. It’s basically a giant turtle standing on two legs with a tree on it’s shell. The mesh is still quite basic and we will make a high-poly to bake normal maps and such to get that ancient godlike feel to it. 
Here he is ready to be skinned with UVW check material on and his pink fluffy weapon. We were debating on whether or not we needed a bone in the tree as well but I am going to try to hard skin it to one spine instead. Hope it works out.
