GUI Work on Big Game Project!

This week, working on E.R.A has gone a lot smoother than last week. So last week I had a lot of problems with a healing statue I deleted after many tries. This week I re-modeled it completely and encountered the exact same problem, after a lot of thinking and trying with different file-formats I finally realized what the problem was! Apparently baking high-def model onto low-poly models sometimes does not use the correct colors for normal-maps (purple). What I did to solve this was I sent the normal-map to crazy-bump (a texture generator) and saved out a new (exact same but with a slight change of colors), and it worked. One thing is sure and I will never make that mistake ever again.

This week I have also made the textures for the portal (barrack) using Henrik Rosenborgs texturing guide and it turned out perfectly, barely any work for such nice textures, really impressive. I also made the capturing node which is another statue but with wings and a pole for a flag (representing what faction conquering the node.

I did however not texture the capturing node as I had a lot of work to do with the GUI (graphical user interface) so that is something I will have to do later. Regarding the GUI, its starting to turn out well, I remade the designs for both the commander and champions GUI because of the changes we done to the game-design. Here is the current look (note that its just temp and nothing is yet written in stone):
