Prop making

This week I have been focusing on making props for the levels. Some props I have done from start to finish, and some I have taken over from another team member. Modelling and UV-mapping in 3DS max, doing textures in Photoshop CS6, and finally creating materials and putting it all together in Unity.
There has been a few engine specific problems along the way, that probably slowed down the process. One was when making the crystal lamp, deciding how the material and lights should be. I’ve worked in UDK before, and it’s quite different to Unity as we are using for this project, so what I had in mind couldn’t properly translate in the engine. I think I will go over it once again in a later stage to see if I can do it better in another way, but for now I must continue making more props. Our beta milestone is drawing closer, and there is a lot of work ahead of us, especially next week if we are to meet our deadline. But I look forward to it, as the more props I can put in the levels, the more our ingame world comes alive. |
