Board Game weekly log

The main goal this week was to get a working “alpha” version of our game that we can use to play test internally and with others. After creating our core mechanic, the dungeon master/wizard and his resources, the mana wheel and deck of spells/monsters/traps, we created the basic setup and rules for the actual game.
I created a quick document compiling the ideas and mechanics we discussed during our first meeting, you can download that document here.

We created a quick prototype on Wednesday and started play testing and refining the mechanics. On the Thursday I created a series of templates for the cards that we printed out and used for testing.
After printing and cutting the templates we can easily test different cards and modify them without much effort.

Templates for the wizards cards.

Templates for the Loot cards.

On the Friday my group met up with a couple of other groups to play test each others games, I did not attend the play test session but according to my group, and the feedback posted on the project blog, people seemed to enjoy our game and the main thing we have to focus on the coming weeks is balancing the game.
