Hi! Let’s BLOG!

This week I have been kind of lazy (compared to earlier weeks). I have been fixing alot of bugs, wich I am proud of, but not going to talk about since bugs are boring and irritating and I can never see them as features. Especially not when they cause the game to crash. What kind of feature could that become? ”In this game you can’t kill an enemy with another bullet than the first one you shot that is on the screen, because if you do everything will crash!” No TY.

I’m going to talk about the second thing that I did, which was to implement sound into our game.

Sound is a very funny thing to have! Everything you do in the game feels alot more alive, and full of action. To have sound is to let the game stimulate another sense. Which is awesome.

However, if you use the wrong sound things will become horrible. At first I used a canarie bird tweet as the sound for gun-fire, and it felt as if my ears would crack. The sound was also way too long, so if you shot once canaries would tweet for like 10 seconds…

You can’t use canarie-sound for gun-fire.

What you can use (temporarily) is the same sound as Counter Strike uses (atleast I think it is, because it sounds just like it :P). It would be pretty illigal to go out with it as a real game though. We won’t use it,  it sounds really oversized for our little pixel-arcade-game in my opinion, but its really funny to have atm and it’s awesome! Especially the sniper-sounds. They sound like Tarzan from the disney-movie, during his final battle with Clayton… ”KHAOOOOOOHHH”.Skärmklipp

The sounds in our game will be very simple. We won’t be using any 3D-effects in them or anything, so I believe a soundmanager won’t even be necessary. We will just create and delete the SFML- sound objects in what object we need them. Simple and Fast 😉

I have not put in music yet though. I think we’re pretty split about what music we’re going to use in our game. At first I thought we were going to have some kind of indian music, like BollywoodSkärmklipp, and I was pretty excited about trying to make some sort of music like that. Then I read our design document! And the music that we’re supposed to have in our game are far more pretentious and serious. I won’t do that 🙂 I’ll leave the music choices to the lead designer and the producer, they can probably find something good that’s not copyrighted.

Good bye folks!
