Long time no see!

So… it’s been quite a while since I last updated this thing. I just happened to miss updating it once, and it’s amazing how easy it is to just keep forgetting after that.
I guess I’m gonna try to make a little bit longer post to make up for it…

So, since last time I have started the next part in the university, after presenting our game concept that we made in the first period (Okay, I didn’t present it, but I had some part in it’s development…) the artists and programmers went on their seperate ways to learn different things.

Since I’m a programmer I’ve been studying programming (duh). However, I had been coding a little bit before so a lot of the things that they talked about was repetition for me, still, I learned a lot by going through the basics and I got to help others out too, so I guess it’s okay. Now we’ve started to cover the more advanced stuff and I have to struggle a little to keep it up. i know people who have it alot harder than me though. I’d like to help them out as best as I can but in the end their success or failure lies in their own hands, not mine.

Also, I went to Gamex which was quite a while ago. I originally wanted to write a post about it but couldn’t really find the energy to do so. I went there with my sister but despite all the fun it was… a little dissapointing. Not that it wasn’t fun or interesting, I got to try Assassins Creed IV which looked pretty cool and I bought some books from the science-fiction bookstore that was hanging around. but the dissapointment mostly came from the fact that Nintendo wasn’t there. I’d hate to call myself a fanboy of anything but I’ve always been a little fond of the big N. Besides, you could say whatever you want about them but they always bring something interesting to the table apart from fun games.

Oh, and I got Pokemon Y which I’ve been playing a lot of lately. I finally got a Froakie with Protean so now I’m trying to make the perfect little Greninja (I’m probably confusing a lot of non-fans). Pokemon’s always been one of those games I’ve enjoyed pretty much every single aspect of. I love the gameplay, I love the world and characters and I absolutley love talking about it. It’s probably one of the few franchises that I’d call myself a fan of.
With all my hype built up, Pokemon Y wasn’t dissapointing in the slightest. I might say that the villains big plan was a little bit silly, but it made sense and in the end I felt kinda sorry for him (not as sorry as I felt for N in Pokemon Black/White though…). I do have a rather big complaint however and that is that the game feels way too easy, I practically rushed through the game without grinding at all and made short work of every single opponent who dared oppose me and my team of 12 overleveled Pokemon. The pinnacle of it all was when I was fighting the champion; my Greninja and her Hawlucha pretty much did each other in, but when I sent out my Florges to counter the game might as well have rolled the credits.
It’s all because of the Exp. Share you get in the beginning of the game which gives every single Pokemon in your party 50% of the earned Exp. Points making grinding easy. I’m actually thinking about replaying the entire game without the bloody thing but that will have to wait.

One last thing. I downloaded the demo of Bravely Default a new JRPG from Square Enix. During my time playing it I was crushed by uber-powerful monsters in the first dungeon, utterly confused over which way to go and had to dilly around on various equipment screens to make sense of the combat.
I. Absolutly. Love. it. I can see why JRPG’s like this turns some people off but I just can’t get enough of the classic style games (like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy 6) and BD is very reminescent of the good old Final Fantasy games, especially 5 and 3 with the whole class system. I didn’t actually get any details of the in-game story but it seems to be something about rebuilding a village using streetpass which I find very interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing who these characters are.

Whew! That’s quite a few things, I’ll try to keep this blog updated a bit more, but to be perfectly honest, it is far from my favorite thing to do. Until next time – See ya!
