Hello, this week has actually been pretty uneventful. We are getting towards the end of the to-do list when it comes to art. I don’t really have much to write about, but I will do my best. Here comes this week’s blog post (woho). This week my assignment was to finish the level two of the customization picture of the truck. I have been trying to draw the levels of the trucks so that they look like the trucks from the sprites that I created for in game. I think that it has gone rather well considering that I had a small 71×28 pixel truck to work with as my inspiration. Of course I got inspiration from other places too. I was pretty pleased with the level two version of the customization truck. Ladbon pointed out that it was missing something on the front, like there was on the small pixel art version of it. I agreed with him and today I added a grill guard to it. I added it to make the truck look a little beefier, but also because it made sense to add more protection, especially to the front of the truck where the engine is.
This week I am supposed to be done with level 3 of the customization truck. But today Ladbon and Oscar asked me to have it done by Friday so that they could put it in the game in time for the beta presentations. I am going to do my best to get it done tonight in time for tomorrow. I also made some buttons for the High score screen. I have already made buttons before so I use a layer and then just write on top of it. I have used a special pixel art’ish font for the writing in the buttons. So I have to draw the font myself instead of just being able to type it out. This is a little bit of a hassle and takes a little bit of time, but it is not a huge problem to be honest since we don’t have much text that uses that font in the game. Basically only the buttons use the font. If we had loads of text that used the font, then that would be a different story altogether. I would probably try and insert the font into the Photoshop or do something similar.
Well that’s all from me for this week. Thanks for reading
