A comfortable place to rest
|
This week I have mostly been continuing my work with furniture and other things in the environment. Since the first level is supposed to be in the “backgrounds” of the airport, where the administrative staff works, and where all employees have their locker rooms and lunch area for example, we wanted it to look a bit like the typical workplace. But until now there hasn’t been any where to actually do some work. One thing I made this week was some computers. At the beginning I made some old fashion looking, grey computers. But Camilla, who is our lead artist, mentioned that we wanted the airport to look like a modern airport and told me to make the computers black instead. I also made a key card reader for doors. Since we want the player to explore the map a bit we have some objects that the player can pick up and use. One of these is a Key card that will open doors. In some levels it will be necessary to open doors in order to continue and in others it will not. Just as with the computers I had made them grey to start with, because it is easier to make small details show on something light, as opposed to on something black. But I agreed with Camilla and black is a more modern colour for small electronics (had I made a TV I would have made it white). I also made the light much smaller on the second one since the light on the first one was a bit excessive. Now to the most important thing I made this week. A furniture that will always be close to my heart. Sofas. Tyda.se describes a sofa as: an upholstered seat for more than one person. I would rather describe it as: a magic place where you can lay (sometimes sit) in an utterly bilss and indulge yourself in junk food and Cheese Balls. I actually had some trouble whit my sofa when I made it. For a starter it was hard to get the right portions, even though I used a reference wall in the background when I drew it. But as I worked with it I made it bigger and bigger until I was satisfied and started with the armrests. In the beginning the sofa looked really hard and I had to make it more puffy and soft looking. Here is the result, having a glass of soda beside his unfinished friend. |
